Chicago man faces charges after beating neighbor to death

A man was arrested after he beat his neighbor to the death, police said.

A 30-year-old man was charged with second-degree murder Monday, according to police.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled the death a homicide.

The man’s neighbors told police the man repeatedly punched and kicked their neighbor in the head and chest for months, police told local media.

He was a “violent and erratic” person, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told The Associated Press.

The victim was not named in court records, but neighbors told the AP that the victim had mental health problems and was not the typical neighbor who would get into fights.

They said the victim suffered from a drug addiction and had mental issues.
