By CNN political commentator Gloria BorgerCNN contributorHillary Clinton said Sunday that she believes women have a right to make their own health care decisions.
The former secretary of state, who lost the 2016 election to President Donald Trump, said women should be able to make the health care choices they choose.
“Women and men should have the right to choose their health care providers and their insurance coverage,” Clinton said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“It is also important that women and men have the same access to care.
And I think that is something that needs to happen in every state, that is one of the reasons why I believe women and girls should be afforded the same rights as men, so that we can have equal opportunity in our lives, not just on the job, but in our housing, in our education, in all of our communities.”
Clinton said that there are so many barriers to access that it is important that we allow women to choose.
She said the federal government has a role to play in encouraging the women and children in the U.S. to be involved in the healthcare decisions they make.
“What we’re seeing is that in some states, like Texas, for example, they’re mandating that doctors and nurses be women.
And there’s been a push from the federal, state and local governments to make sure that those decisions are made by women, not men.
And what we have to do is make sure women have access to healthcare, so they can make decisions about it.”
The Democratic nominee said that she supports policies that allow women and their families to make these decisions about their healthcare.””
We need to do more to make those decisions by the women who are in the room and by the mothers who are the mothers, the sisters and the grandmothers who are mothers.”
The Democratic nominee said that she supports policies that allow women and their families to make these decisions about their healthcare.
“We have to be willing to take on the challenges that come along with those decisions, but we also have to recognize that there is also a lot of work that still needs to be done to make our healthcare system better for all,” Clinton concluded.
